Bits of turkey
Oh those boys! They know when daddy is cooking and when they will be getting a taste of what is cooking on the stove. I guess I too would be sitting inches from the stove just waiting for something to drop. They have a nose for the good stuff like turkey bits....you know the stuff that comes in that little bag that is inside of a turkey! Yuk! I can't eat the stuff but those boys know a good treat when they smell it. I cooked those parts up and served a' la carte. Delic

Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is a special day for all dog shelters and rescues. Today is a day for people to give to what they believe in or places that they have supported in the past. Today is a day for people to think beyond themselves and give. Today is a day to give and to feel good about it. So I ask all who have dogs or cats or just love animals to give to a shelter near you or to the A.S.P.C.A, National Humane Society, Best Friends. The feeling you get when you think of other

Two hungry little mouths to feed
I am looking forward to feeding the 2 most important little mouths on Thanksgiving day. This will really be the first "real" Thanksgiving we have shared as a family unit of 3. I don't mind the quietness and the simplicity not to mention they really are not going to heavily criticize my cooking and if they do well, no more turkey for you! Now I'm not sure about all the sides like stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberries (my mom would serve it from the can...loved the natural r

Fergus and our journey so far
This picture was taken when Fergus was just a day away from coming home. I can't imagine not having him in our life and would do it all over again. Having rescued Fergus (formerly known as Black Jack) from New Orleans then transported to Kansas City was an adventure I will never forget. It was not the easiest adoption by far with communication between several people and then having to arrange for transport with 2 companies and then the "holding period" where Fergus had to

A dog and condo living
So this may not be your living situation but there are those who live in condo communities and those who live in homes. Either way a home is where your dog is and I absolutely love seeing dogs coming and going from condo communities. Coming from one living situation to another and downsizing are not easy and having that furry friend along for the ride is a big change. But I think they get used to it quicker than their human and let's be honest a tree is a tree and where th

Memory Lane
So I was thinking last night since I was up anyway and thought "how many streets are named Memory Lane"? Needless to say I could not get a number for that but some strange things came up with Memory Lane in it from cosmetics to the obvious...a funeral home. I like this one the best. But this of course takes me to the relationships I have had with the dogs that I have shared my life with from childhood to today. Every one of these dogs had and still have a special place in

Loss and Love
Loss and Love I thought was an appropriate title for todays blog. Loss of a loved one is hard to put into words and I would never try to put my words to someone who has experienced loss except for my support, comfort and love. My dearest friend and family in this life and probably beyond (I can only hope that we have those relationships that are dearest to us beyond this world) recently lost their father this week and there are no words I can say that can make the pain and
