If they could tell you how they feel

When you feel like s#it you do what you need to do to feel better but when your dog is not feeling his or her usual self it can be really hard to figure out what is wrong and what you can do to help them feel better.  My Finn has been suffering from allergies and I have been giving him Benadryl a couple times a day and it has given him some relief.  Since our vet has moved beyond our usual 20 mile drive I have been trying to manage his itching and watery eyes and looks as though we will have to find ourselves another veterinarian who we like and trust.  For as long as I can remember I have been the type of person to try and find a home health remedy not only to avoid the experience of going to the doctor and getting poked (watch it) and prodded but also avoid the conventional way of thinking.  This also holds true for my dogs.  I believe we can be more involved in our dogs health if we take the time and do a little work on our end.  I mean lets be honest we spend more time and money trying to get our vehicles performing as though they are trying to qualify for the Indy 500.  OK...mostly the men.  So, as of now we are not finding much comfort or relief with my attempt of being family vet and I do want to see Finn feeling better and get back to his goofy and playful self.  Loving these dogs isn't always fun and worry free and taking on the responsibility of care giver (and sometimes doctor) is a big part of being a dog daddy.
