Celebration of Saint Patrick
St. Patrick's Day. St Patrick's Day is a global celebration of Irish culture on or around March 17. It particularly remembers St Patrick, one of Ireland's patron saints, who ministered Christianity in Ireland during the fifth century. So that's the book version but it goes a little differently here and it involves those who are Irish and those who are not. And I must say it is not limited to those of the 2 legged kind. I know some people who have dogs dress them up during certain holidays (Christmas, Fourth of July, Halloween) and not sure how long the costume stays on but it is certainly a "selfie" moment. St. Patricks Day was one of those days where my father would dress Bailey (Golden Retriever) in plenty of green. I'm not sure if my dad was going for a certain character but he got his dog in plenty of green and Bailey seemed proud to wear the green hat, beads and t-shirt. All in the name of St. Patrick. St. Patrick's Day had to be by far my father favorite day of the year but you wouldn't know it. Humble is more how my father greeted each day and the people in it. But on St. Patty's Day he celebrated like he was back in the homeland and seemed happier on that day than any other. It wasn't only the green beer but it was the music and the culture that my father enjoyed and I miss those moments where my Irish dad and his gentle spirit would get a charge out of a day where everyone was Irish and he felt quite at home.
